How to Play?
Catan is a strategy board game where players aim to be the first to reach 10 victory points. Players gather resources (brick, wood, ore, wheat, and sheep) from hexagon tiles on the board based on dice rolls, then use these resources to build roads, settlements, and cities.
Start a game
So just boot up the game, create a new lobby and call all your friends.
Pro tip: By sharing the lobby code they can join the game seamlessly.
In the Lobby, each player has the opportunity to choose the name which they think should be written in the history books and signal that they are ready. Once all players in the lobby are good to go, the host can start the game
THE GAME
When the game starts, the player order is randomized and a custom game board will be generated, depending on the amount of players in the lobby.
The setup phase
Once the board is displayed, the setup phase begins. It consists of two rounds where each player is allowed to place exactly one road, followed by one settlement per round. The first round is played in the correct order, while the second round is played in reverse, so that everyone gets the same chance.
Gameplay
Roll the dice
After this is done the real game begins, and the race to the top officially starts. Each player turn starts with rolling the dice. If its your turn, shake your phone or click the dice button to tempt your fate.
Resource distribution
After the dice have been rolled, the resources on the tiles which match the dice value are automatically distributed to the players who have adjacent settlements
Building your kingdom
If you gathered enough resources to build a road, city or settlement, just click the build button on the top right and select the spot you want to expand your empire to.
But beware: Keeping your enemies too close may cause problems later on, since settlements are required to be at least two intersections apart.
Trading
If you lack a specific resources, you can trade the bank for it. The standard ratio is 4:1, but with a harbor town you get the best bang for your buck by being able to trade with a 3:1 or even 2:1 ratio.
Stealing from your closest friends
If you don't have enough resources (and too many friends), no reason to worry. Just steal a resource of your choice from your rivals by double tapping the desired resource in the bar on the bottom of your screen. The resource will be stolen Robin-Hood-Style by taking it from the player who has the highest amount of it.
But be careful, your enemies may spy on you and getting caught cheating will cost you half your cards (and probably some of your friends).
Ending your turn
Once you are done, you can end your turn by pressing the arrow button on the bottom right and give another player the chance to do it better.

Rinse and repeat
And then its just roll, trade, build, repeat until the first player reaches 10 Victory Points. It might be a good idea to scroll through the player bar on the top from time to time and check if someone is too close for comfort, since for example placing the longest road also grands an additional two points and this can happen faster than you like.
So be vigilant and don't forget: History is written by the winners.
